Marriage Preparation Programs

Re-Marriage, Marriage Enrichment, Catholic Encounters, Marriage meeting, etc.

Consult with the Priest as to the upcoming dates. DO NOT wait until the last moment.

The Wedding Ceremony

Weddings are normally programmed on Saturdays at 12:00 p.m. or 2:00 p.m. Occasionally, a wedding can be programmed during the week. Keep in mind that during the liturgical year, times such as Christmas, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, and Sundays weddings are not permitted. The Priest will schedule the date and time with you.

Rehearsals

You will have a practice one day or some days before your wedding. As the Bride and Groom, it is your responsibility to be sure that all the members who will be participating in your wedding arrive at the practice at least 15 minutes before the practice begins.

Church Decorations

Keep in mind that during the liturgical year, times such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Holy Week, additional decorations are not permitted in the Church. During these times, the church decorations are in accordance with the spirit of that particular liturgical time and, at most, other decorations are not necessary. Please keep this in mind when you are deciding on the date and colors of your wedding.

Flowers and candelabra

Same as with decorations, there are certain times during the liturgical year when it is not permitted to have additional flowers placed in front of the altar. Flowers are not to be placed in the sanctuary in any manner that obstructs the presider of your ceremony or members participating in the wedding. Flowers may be placed to the front center and far sides of the sanctuary.  A pilar can be placed for you to present flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Let the priest know if you plan to include this tradition into your ceremony. Please use fresh flower arrangements. It would be appreciated if you consider donating your floral arrangements to be used at the following Sunday mass. Floral arrangements can be placed in the church 30 minutes before your wedding ceremony.

PLEASE NO ARTIFICIAL FLORAL ARRANGMENTS.

Please ensure to give your florist the guidelines for floral arrangements. This will prevent any confusion in positioning the flowers and any last-minute issues before the ceremony.

Dropping of flower petals, throwing of rice or birdseed, and rugs are not permitted for safety reasons. A slip or fall from these materials could cause a serious injury and disrupt your ceremony.

No additional candles or candelabra are permitted for safety reasons. A spill of candle wax or tipped over candle can cause damages and disrupt your ceremony.

Photography

Photographers and cameramen are welcome. We ask that they respect the sanctity of the ceremony. Please arrange a meeting with the Priest, photographer and yourself at the rehearsal to discuss guidelines and placement of equipment.

The photographer and photography equipment should be placed in one designated area. The Photographer, respectably, is asked not to move about or enter the sanctuary during the ceremony.

Please refrain from using flash photography, lamps, or any other lighting that might distract the bride, groom, or presider during the ceremony. And refrain from asking anyone to pose during the ceremony.

There will be 30 minutes designated after the ceremony to take photos of the couple, court, parents, etc. Please keep it to a minimum to be courteous to others who may have events scheduled after your own.

Please keep in mind that we do not hold any exclusivity to any given photographer. We believe in treating all our brothers and sisters fairly and giving them each the opportunity to share their God-given talents with the community.

Music

You should arrange for one of the designated choirs of the church to carry out the music for your ceremony. This is because they know the proper liturgical music for the parts of the mass.

This is a personal arrangement between you and the choir. Contact the church office for the list of choirs.

NOTE: Non-religious music is not permitted for the ceremony, for example, the nuptial march, theme songs, etc.

Other Details

Requirements for the matrimonial ceremony:

Rings, coins and lasso, only.

Optional traditional gift items: Flowers for the Virgin, bible, rosaries, etc.

Please be courteous. DO NOT leave anything behind after your ceremonial mass. It will more than likely be disposed of during the cleaning and maintenance afterward. We will not be liable for lost or stolen personal effects, so please be responsible for your belongings.
